No wrapping
This is what the product is.
Every other strap on this shelf is threaded through its own loop and wound
around the bar two or three times before each set. It works, and it takes time,
and a careless wrap slips halfway through a rep.
A C-shaped leather pad is laid over the bar and closed on by the hand. Nothing
is wound. The maker names this directly as the design goal rather than leaving
it to be noticed.
The thumb
Open, deliberately.
A wrapped strap ties the whole hand to the bar. The C leaves the thumb out, so
it still moves and still opposes the fingers — the hand is assisted rather than
replaced.
Finger spacers
Non-slip ridges at the finger positions, published.
They are what stops the leather sliding through the fingers, since there is no
wrap doing that job. On this design they are load-bearing, not decoration.
The dye instruction
Wash with water a few times before use.
It is a strange thing to find in a product listing and a useful one: dyed
leather against sweating hands transfers colour. The maker says so, and says
how to stop it, rather than letting it be discovered on a grey shirt.

A different name on the leather
The listing is AOTWAN throughout — title, bullets, and the leaflet in the
photograph. The straps themselves are not: each palm piece carries an orange
patch reading GOUNOD, and so does the wrist cuff in the worn shot.
Two names on one purchase is common enough in this trade, and neither the
listing nor this page explains it. It is put on record because the name on the
product is the one a buyer will look at afterwards, and it is not the name
they ordered under.
