Read from across the room
This is the only product in this family that can be.
Six others are handheld or belt-clipped: a stopwatch is read at arm’s length, a
pager-sized interval timer is felt rather than seen. An LED panel 30.7 cm wide
on a wall is read from the other end of a garage, mid-set, without moving.
That is a different job, and it is what puts this at the top of the shelf’s
prices, level with one other.
The remote
Also unique here, and it is what makes the panel workable alone.
A wall-mounted timer that has to be walked to is a timer somebody else operates.
A remote to 10 metres starts and stops the clock from under the bar.
Two digit heights
1.8 inches in the title. 1.5 inches in the third bullet.
Both are published for the same product and this page reports both. It is not a
detail on this device: digit height is exactly what decides the distance the
display can be read from, which is the entire reason for buying a panel.
The panel dimensions — 30.7 × 8.5 × 3.4 cm — are given once and do not
conflict.
Eighty-five decibels, switchable
A buzzer at both ends of each interval, and it can be turned off.
Loud enough to cut through a room and through music. Switchable, because the
same device in a flat at night is a different problem.
Five brightness levels
The other half of the same idea: a panel bright enough for a daylit garage is
too bright for an evening room.
Left off the listing
Any battery. It runs on USB 5 V, which means a cable reaching wherever
it hangs — a real constraint on a wall-mounted device and not one the listing
addresses.
